NEC intros 15.4-inch LaVie L-series notebooks

NEC LaVie L-series laptops


Computer monitor and PC maker NEC announced it will soon launch a new notebook series in Japan, with the LaVie L series. The fashion-focused notebook features a 15.4-inch LCD, offering 1280x800 resolution and will sport a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo chip along with 4GB of RAM. The 320GB hard disk drive will come pre-loaded with Windows Vista. The notebook's touchpad has a feature that allows it recognize handwriting gestures by users' fingers or scroll across web pages.

The notebook also sports an HDMI output, VGA output, a gigabit Ethernet port, ExpressCard slot and Wi-Fi capabilities and will read multi-format memory cards thanks to an integrated reader. A DVD burner is also part of the package and comes with dedicated software to allow users to create movies from AVCHD files recorded on digital video cameras. Office Personal 2007 software is also included with the notebook. Battery life is rated at a lower than average 1.2 hours.

Weighing in at 6.4lbs, the LaView LL750 will be available in red, black, white and pink. When the LaVie L notebooks are released for sale in Japan later in December, their prices will start at the equivalent of $1,950. [via Impress]
