Creative Zii Early Details
Creative's Zii is actually a processor unlike much of the company's existing lineup, according to info obtained in advance by epiZENter. While the company's own teaser provides little information, the new update adds that the product will be "completely different" from the X-Fi audio processing chip in Creative's sound cards and MP3 players. It additionally won't be tied to any one product, instead finding its way into several devices of an unknown type.
No clues are given as to where the Zii chip would be used, though the differentiation and Creative's own reference to "stemcell computing" points to the hardware being used in more general computing devices than the company's more narrow-purposed products. It may also be a co-processor instead of a main component. An unveiling of the processor is scheduled for CES in early January and will likely translate to one or more product launches shortly afterwards.
