New Intel quad-core chips

Intel has launched a new, low-cost quad-core mobile processor, as well as its latest mobile dual-core chipsets. The 2.53GHz Q9000 quad-core processor is significantly cheaper than the existing QX9300 and Q9100, but offers just 6MB of cache memory as opposed to the 12MB in its siblings. Acer has already announced a notebook with the new technology, the Aspire 8930G-7665. Designed for gaming, the system uses an 18.4-inch WUXGA screen and NVIDIA 9700M GT graphics.

The Q9000 is priced at $350, while the Aspire notebook costs $1,800. Intel's remaining offerings consist of the 2.93GHz T9800 and the 2.66GHz T9550, as well as the 2.66GHz P9600 and 2.53GHz P8700.
