Dell Inspiron 15 Online

Dell today quickly acted on an earlier promise by launching its in-house version of the Inspiron 15. Unlike the fixed configuration shipping through Best Buy, Dell's own model can be optioned up to a modern 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo along with choices for a 1.3-megapixel webcam, 802.11n Wi-Fi, a Blu-ray combo drive and Bluetooth. Buyers can also pick from blue and red lids in addition to Best Buy's simple black.

Prices for Dell's Inspirons start at $699 with a 2GHz Core 2 Duo on an 800MHz bus, 3GB of memory, a 250GB hard drive and a low-capacity, 4-cell battery. Shifting up to an $899 model (discounted to $799) gives a 2.2GHz chip on the same bus, a larger 320GB drive and a 6-cell battery, while the $1,164 flagship (dropped to $999) supplies a newer chip on a 1,066MHz bus, 4GB of memory and a 9-cell battery. Most models ship at the end of January.
