Copps as interim FCC chair
With Kevin Martin resigning from his post as FCC chairman on President Obama's inauguration day, FCC commissioner Michael Copps will act as an interim chairman until a permanent replacement is named. Julius Genachowski is the unofficial favorite for the permanent position.
The new President also needs to appoint a fifth commissioner, with choices that include Internet law and communications law teacher Susan Crawford. The University of Michigan professor was also on the board of ICANN and founded OneWebDay. Another choice includes the assistant professor of legal studies at Wharton, Kevin Werbach, who also founded the Supernova tech conference and is a former FCC counsel for new technology.
Current commissioner Jonathan Adelstein is fairly new, and despite his term ending on June 30th, he has the option of staying throughout 2009. [via mocoNews]

Great, a pollock at the helm. We'll be using to tin cans and strings in no time.
