Sprint already training on Palm Pre?

Sprint Training Palm Pre

Sprint staff are already training on selling the Palm Pre to customers, according to Twitter posts by Yahoo's Sarah Lacy. Although only just announced this month, employees both acknowledge having been given formal tutorials and are being told to expect the Pre in June, landing the hardware at the end of its promised first-half 2009 shipping window. Other details, such as price, aren't known and are unlikely to be revealed at this early stage. Palm and Sprint have so far declined to commit to more specific release dates.

While Lacy's apparent discoveries aren't necessarily an indication of special measures by themselves, the training is unusually early for a device. Store workers at AT&T locations are known to have been fully briefed on the original, 2007 iPhone considerably later than the actual announcement despite pricing and a launch month having already been announced in January of that year. Most other devices also receive similar treatment.

If sustained, a June launch would potentially place the Pre in more direct competition with an iPhone refresh, which in the device's brief history has always taken place in mid-year.

    or

they just want to make sure their staff know what their talking about, and less concerned about keeping things hush-hush and super-secret.

    Keyboard

They make fun of the iPhone's keyboard... but it is obvious from the size and position of the Pre's Keyboard it is a huge mistake.... way too narrow to type one handed... and the balance of the phone would seem to make it clumsy typing... your fingers would have to be tiny....
