Moto W233 now shipping
The previously announced Motorola W233 Renew handset is now available for purchase at wireless provider T-Mobile for about $10 on a two-year contract. The W233 Renew is the first handset to use recycled plastics in the construction of its housing that includes recycled water bottles. It's therefore recyclable, and Motorola is touting the handset as the first totally carbon-neutral cell phone.
With every W233 sold, Motorola, in cooperation with Carbonfund.org, will offset the carbon dioxide required to manufacture, distribute and operate the phone by investing in renewable energy sources and reforestation. Even the handset's packaging is printed on 100 percent post-consumer recycled paper. The box also includes a pre-paid shipping envelope that allows customers to send back their old handsets for proper recycling.
The W233 Renew's features include a noise reduction feature with speaker boost and has an integrated music player. The dual-band GSM phone has a microSD card to store multimedia files and its standard battery is rated at nine hours of talk time.
