amBX coming to PS3
amBX technology, originally developed with Phillips and used in some of the company's TVs, is coming to gaming consoles with a software kit for the Sony PlayStation 3, the technology's namesake company has announced. amBX will light up, shake or send airflow via supported peripherals depending on what is happening in a game, movie or song and has been compatible with many PC games, potentially enhancing the experience by altering the mood.
Under the Tools & Middleware License agreement with Sony Computer Entertainment, PS3 gamers and users will be able to experience the same thing as PC gamers despite the change in platform. Late in 2008, amBX released a free Software Development Kit to encourage more hardware developers to include support for amBX technology to their products.
There has been no mention of when products designed to work with amBX for the PS3 will hit the market, or when the software itself will be available for download or purchase by developers. [via Pocket-lint]
