LG Arena Confirmed

LG finished the week by validating rumors regarding the KM900 Arena on the company's official UK blog. The teaser both confirms the name of the device through the file name and that the phone will use a new 3D interface with iPhone-like icons that flips between the home screen and other levels of the operating system. LG also acknowledges that the phone will have its formal debut at Mobile World Congress in mid-month.

While nothing else has come from LG itself, a further Dutch leak claims the device will sit near the top of the LG range with a 3-inch, 800x480 display, a 5-megapixel back camera with "DVD quality" video capture, assisted GPS, FM radio, Wi-Fi and mobile TV in an unspecified format. A front camera for video calls is also visible.

The handset is described as "tri-band" for GSM, UMTS and HSPA and suggests the phone may not be available in North America in at least its initial version. A launch through at least T-Mobile Germany has already been confirmed and hints at a Europe-first release. [via Unwired View]

Nice specs

Well, the specs of the device seem nice, but how well will it function? The 3D thing seems pretty pointless, but it will sell phones, I guess.

Now, what I don't understand is why the coolest new phones can't be launched here in the US first. We're always a few years behind. At least Apple starts them here first yet. Wonder how long that will last?
