T-Mobile gets Curve 8900

As promised late last month, the BlackBerry Curve 8900 smartphone is now available for purchase at T-Mobile. With a two-year contract and a $100 mail-in rebate, the handset is priced at $199, with T-Mobile giving users the option to buy itcontract-free for $499. Unofficial reports say T-Mobile stores are only receiving five examples of the new handset per location, making them scarce initially, though more handsets are due to ship to stores later this week.

The Curve 8900 is the latest handset from Canadian phone-maker Research In Motion, and includes a 480x360 display, GPS functionality and an integrated Wi-Fi module. There is no 3G network access, but the handset supports T-Mobile's HotSpot calling feature, allowing the handset to make phone calls over the Internet and bridge them to the GSM network.

Electronista has already reviewed the new Curve ahead of its US launch.
