Lenovo Y650 now shipping

Sooner than originally expected Lenovo's three-model IdeaPad Y650 range is now available for purchase. The 16-inch notebooks have a 1366x768 resolution LCD, with the base model powered by a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU with a GMA X4500 integrated graphics chipset and 3GB of RAM. Windows Vista Home Premium is pre-loaded onto the 320GB, 5,400RPM hard drive, and a DVD recorder is built-in. A six-cell battery is standard fare, as are Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Stepping up to the next model adds a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce G105M graphics chipset with 256MB of memory, and replaces the operating system with the 64-bit version of Windows Vista Home Premium. The flagship of the range ups processing speed thanks to a faster 2.53GHz Core 2 Duo CPU and a total 4GB of RAM.

The base IdeaPad Y650 starts at about $1,300, with the mid-range model priced at $1,350 and the top-rung version carrying a near $1,400 sticker. [via Engadget]
