Nokia launches E75, E55 pro phones

Nokia E75 and E55

Nokia at its MWC keynote today launched two expected but high-end additions to its business smartphones. The E75 is the first modern Eseries phone with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and comes with the same 3.2-megapixel camera, GPS and Wi-Fi as the previously launched E71 but in a format more comfortable for long messages. It also stands as the first Nokia device with a much improved e-mail front end that adds support for HTML, message sub-folders, and quicker shortcuts to common tasks.

The E55 effectively replaces the E51 and swaps the standard number pad for a BlackBerry-like SureType keyboard that the company claims is much faster than T9 input in a very narrow form factor. It also gets a sharper 3.2-megapixel camera and GPS mapping on top of the existing 3G and Wi-Fi, and also carries the revamped e-mail interface.

Both phones will come in both international versions as well as North America models with 850MHz GSM, EDGE and HSPA. The E75 ships first, arriving in March for 375 Euros ($478) before carrier discounts; the E55 costs less at 265 Euros ($337) but will be ready only sometime during the spring.
