BookReader V100

Plustek has announced BookReader V100, a device created to transform printed words into audio output. BookReader V100 enables users to scan books into an audio MP3 or WAV format, which can be imported into any MP3 player or listened to from the computer. The device offers features such as a magnifying tool, color contrast function, zoom text capabilities, assignable hot keys, being able to save scanned pages in PDF format, and a text editing ability to allow the modifying of scanned text. A word spelling function is also added to enhance learning accuracy and pronunciation.

The magnifying tool can be used independently of the book reader system and gives access to other programs the user might need. The tool gives people a see-and-speak function used while reading the text. The color contrast feature increases the visual effectiveness, and is designed to help people with color blindness to use certain color combinations. Lastly, BookReader gives the ability to repeat any of the text with varying degrees, including word, sentence, page, and paragraph.

BookReader V100 comes with bundled software to help provide more lifelike voices, includes an English and Spanish bilingual package, and is currently priced at $700.
