BenQ nScreen AIO PCs

BenQ on Wednesday announced it has developed two all-in-one PCs, part of its nScreen range, with the 18.5-inch i91 and 21.5-inch i221. The two PCs sport 16:9 aspect ratio displays and built-in 1.3-megapixel webcams. The i221 can display 1080p resolution images, while the i91's maximum resolution is fixed at 720p, or 1366x768. BenQ is touting ease of use for all members of the family, including seniors, as the PCs' strong suit. The large, radio-like knob on the bottom corner of the diplays allows users to power on the machine, adjust its volume, brightness and other functions.

The PCs' hard drive and RAM memory can be easily upgraded, as the back panel reveals both, which can be swapped with the removal of a single screw for each. Hardware specs on either machine include a 1.5GHz AMD Sempron CPU and 1GB of RAM, with graphics handled by an ATI Radeon X1200 chipset. Both ship with a 160GB, 5,400RPM hard drive, but offer 4GB, 8GB or 16GB solid state drives as an option. The preloaded operating system is Windows XP Home. An Ethernet connection and Wi-Fi module provide Internet or network connectivity options.

The i221 is also ready to make VoiP phone calls thanks to the included wired handset, as well as Internet video calls thanks to the integrated webcam.

BenQ plans to ship the two PCs in its home market of Taiwan, as well as Australia and Japan in the spring. The i91 is currently being sold in Taiwan, priced at about $517, while the i221's price will not be available until the spring, with pricing information not yet announced. At the same time, BenQ says it will launch both LCD HDTVs larger than 42 inches as well as 12-inch netbooks later this year. Releases in other countries aren't mentioned. [via DigiTimes]
