Gateway TC Series

Gateway this morning kicked off the start of a new notebook range in the TC series. The 14-inch system has the relatively upscale design language of the MC but is significantly lighter at 5.3 pounds in addition to being smaller. It also becomes one of the least expensive full-size notebooks to include an LED-backlit display and shares the same 16:9 ratio and 1366x768 resolution as the MC, suiting it to watching movies.

Only one core specification is available on launch and comes in either black or burgundy lid colors. The same $650 price provides a 2GHz Pentium dual-core, 4GB of memory, a 320GB hard drive and GMA X4500 integrated video. Gateway promises further models that add dedicated GeForce 9300M video as well as Blu-ray and 500GB of hard drive space. The starter TC should already be shipping.
