Eee PC 1000HE at Amazon

Amazon today is offering a roughly $25 discount on the fairly new Eee PC 1000HE netbook, which is now shipping to those who bought them in advance. Fulfilling ASUS' promises both for its shipping window as well as for an early-order discount on the 10-inch netbook, the online retailer is offering the stock version of the system in at least black and blue color options for $374. Those who order today will see their own orders shipped within 2-3 weeks.

The Eee PC 1000HE is the first netbook to ship with Intel's new 1.66GHz Atom CPU, which has a faster 667MHz system bus and is claimed capable of playing back HD videos thanks to faster integrated graphics on its GN40 chipset. The netbook also ships with a standard high-capacity battery that is said to provide 9.5 hours of life while retaining a slim profile.

Other features of the netbook include a 160GB hard drive, draft-N Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and an integrated webcam.

    No GN40 Chipset

The Eee PC 1000HE doesn't use the GN40 chipset. ASUS stuck with the Intel integrated 945GSE due to its much lower power requirements.
