Acer intros Atom-based NAS

Acer Japan recently announced it will soon launch its network attached storage PC, the Aspire easyStore H340. The NAS uses Intel's 1.6GHz Atom CPU, along with 1GB of RAM and the 945GC Express mainboard. The PC runs Windows Home Server operating system and can share its multimedia content, including photos, videos and music with up to 10 connected PCs. The four-bay NAS is offered in two versions, with a 1TB drive or three 1TB drives preinstalled into it.

The NAS features five USB 2.0 ports for connecting external drives or shared resources such as printers, and there is one eSATA port and gigabit Ethernet port. The NAS is able to copy content from USB devices using Acer's one-touch USB copy feature and has the ability to share to DLNA media devices. Daily backups can be scheduled to save power and keep up-to-date system and file backup.

The Acer Aspire NAS will be available in Japan on March 6th, with the 1TB H340-S1 priced at the equivalent of about $610, while the 3TB H340-S2 will cost $916. [via Impress]
