New Rebel coming by June?
While far from official, CanonRumors has recently quoted an e-mail from an undisclosed source that has Canon launching its next-generation Rebel digital SLR camera, dubbed the EOS-500D, on June 23. The camera will reportedly ship bundled with a new EF-S mount prime lens, the 30mm f/2. This represents a delay of the launch, apparently due to Canon's weariness of the economy and "waiting to see what Nikon comes out with."
What else would come with the camera is uncertain, though the bulk of Canon's new 2009 cameras use DIGIC 4 processors. Canon last updated its core Rebel line with the XSi in January of last year and launched a lower-cost alternative, the Rebel XS, in August.
