Wii Classic Controller Pro

A new gamepad is in the works for Nintendo's Wii console, an official Japanese site reveals. The Classic Controller Pro is based on the existing Classic Controller, which serves as an alternative to the signature Wii Remote, and helps in playing GameCube or Virtual Console titles. New to the Pro is a different layout, most noticeably in the form of grips similar to those on an Xbox 360 controller. Some gamers may find grips more comfortable in long play sessions.

All buttons and analog sticks remain on the gamepad, but with the notable rearrangement of all edge-mounted buttons to fit on the shoulders, as on the PlayStation 3's Sixaxis controller. A Japanese release for the Pro is expected sometime in the summer; a North American version of the gamepad is uncertain, though within the range of possibilities.
