ASUS Eee TOP Pre-orders
ASUS tonight opened up pre-orders for its Eee TOP all-in-one desktops. The 15.6-inch models in black and white are now set to ship to the US through Amazon on March 9th for $600. Both trims get the same custom touchscreen interface, 1.6GHz Atom processor, 1GB of RAM, 160GB hard drive and Windows XP Home as their basic counterparts in Asia and Europe.
The desktop is meant as a kitchen and budget media center PC and, besides its core performance, also comes with a built-in 4W speaker system, a multi-format card reader and 802.11n Wi-Fi. A 1.3-megapixel webcam is likewise built-in for video chat.
ASUS is believed to eventually be expanding the Eee TOP line to involve 22-inch versions with higher-resolution screens as well as possible performance and storage upgrades.
