ASUS CeBIT introductions

ASUS had a number of new product announcements at CeBIT in Germany, including news about its Eee Keyboard which, as the name implies, combines a touchpad screen and computer hardware into a keyboard that is five inches deep. ASUS' chairman, Jonney Shih, said the hybrid PC and input device will launch in the second quarter of the year and probably by June. The company's CEO, Jerry Shen, said the company will have a wireless and wired version of the PC for connecting to monitors or TVs.

While pricing is not yet confirmed, Shen did say the company expected the wired version will cost about $400, while the wire-free model will cost somewhere between that and $600.

ASUS also took the time to more formally showcase its Nintendo Wii-like game controller, the Eee Stick, that translates motion, pointing and tilt hand motions into onscreen movements. The controller will also double as a 3D mouse for PC users, ASUS says.

Lastly, the company has also unveiled an unusual EeeNAS PC meant for letting users backup sensitive data and share their photos, movies and music on its namesake network-attached storage. The PC has 2TB of space and is engineered to run coolly and quietly enough for nonstop use. It can be operated as a standalone PC thanks to its 3.5-inch touchscreen control panel, and sports a DVD burner as well as multi-server support.

Apart from the Eee Keyboard, ASUS has not given indications as to the release dates and pricing information for its new products. [via RegHardware]
