Asus U and UX notebooks

Asus has expanded its computer offerings to include the new U and UX series of ultra-thin notebooks. Both will offer LED-backlit displays that automatically adjust the brightness for the environment. The U models will offer a 15.6-inch display, Intel Core 2 Duo processor, NVIDIA GeForce G105M GPU and hard-drive capacities up to 500GB. The touchpad features lights that follow the user's fingertips, while the keyboard will also offer backlighting.

The company has not yet provided many details for the UX series, although the models will offer a slot-load optical drive and contrasting gloss and matte finish. The UX notebooks could also be slightly thinner and lighter than the U series.

Pricing remains unknown, but the new notebooks are expected to ship sometime in the second quarter of this year.
