Treo Pro Sprint March 15th
Sprint today at last confirmed a more definitive release date for the Palm Treo Pro on its network. The Windows Mobile smartphone was delayed last month for unknown reasons but is now set to launch with the US carrier on March 15th, when it should sell for $200 on any two-year contract with both voice and data after both online and mail-in rebates. Sprint's version gives access to the company's online music store, TV streaming and navigation services.
The launch also confirms that the CDMA Treo Pro is one of the first Windows Mobile devices to ship with Internet Explorer Mobile 6 already installed and should therefore have much more accurate web browsing than the stock browser included with Windows Mobile 6.1. The phone is already known to use EVDO Revision A for its 3G data and continues to share the GSM Treo Pro's GPS, Wi-Fi, 3.5mm headphone jack and microSDHC storage.
Despite being one of the earliest to set out plans for the Treo Pro on CDMA, Alltel may be first with a release on Thursday. Either US carrier has already been beaten by Bell Canada's release in late February.
