Samsung Q1EX-71G UMPC
Samsung has recently introduced the newest UMPC for sale in the US, the Q1EX-71G, which sports a 7-inch touchscreen with 1024x600 resolution. Its unique feature is a switch in its core CPU: instead of earlier Intel A100 parts or an Atom, processing power comes from a 1.2GHz VIA Nano U2500 ultra-low voltage processor as well as 2GB of RAM. The 1.8-inch 60GB hard drive ships with Windows' XP Tablet edition operating system.
As expected, there's a Wi-Fi connection and Bluetooth 2.0, as well as an unadvertised but important GPS sensor for positioning. The antenna is revealed in tteardown photos of the UMPC's guts. A digital camera is accounted for, though its megapixel rating is not known.
Overall weight is said to be less than 1.5lbs, with the 4-cell, 4,000mAh's battery life rated at a maximum of 4.5 hours. An SD card slot allows users to expand memory space, and a 3.5mm audio jack allows for private listening or hooking up external speakers.
Samsung prices the Q1EX-71G at $750, though at least one retailer sells it for $776. [via NaviGadget]
