MSI GT628 Notebook

In the wake of CeBIT, MSI today revamped its GT series notebooks with the GT628. The 15.4-inch notebook is one of the first US-bound systems to carry NVIDIA's new GeForce GTS 160M and, combined with 1GB of video memory, is potentially 50 percent faster than older systems in graphics-heavy games. The chipset also reduces the strain of playing 1080p video.

As with many other MSI gaming portables, the GT628 has a turbo mode that overclocks the CPU by as much as 15 percent when plugged into a power source. While the company doesn't mention specific processors or RAM, the PC should include Core 2 Duo variants for processors, a 1680x1050 stock display resolution and a 320GB hard drive. HDMI output and a 2-megapixel webcam are standard, while a Blu-ray reader and an extended 9-cell battery back are options.

MSI plans to ship the system in mid-April and should give pricing to resellers closer to the launch date.
