NiceMac scraps StarPlayr
NiceMac has announced that since its StarPlayr Sirius radio app has failed to receive approval at Apple's App Store, it will be scrapping the entire StarPlayr project. Back in January, NiceMac submitted the iPhone app for approval and waited roughly a month before receiving a statement that they could not be approved at the time. Gizmodo notes that a potential factor blocking the app from being approved could be that a first-party app from Sirius may be in development, though it remains unconfirmed.
In addition to eliminating the StarPlayr app for the iPhone, the company is also doing away with its Windows Mobile version, and offering refunds to users on a first-come-first-served basis until corporate funds have been exhausted.

I use Starplayr on my mac to play streaming Sirius in the house and it's great ( and much more stable than the Sirius branded player). I was looking forward to it on the iPhone. Too bad about Apple killing it off. ralph

If you're going to force your developers to go through some stupid approval process to allow them to distribute an app for your precious devices, the least you could do is tell them WHY you've said no.

Apple is going down. And this pisses me off, as OS X rocks, and I can't stand Windows. But they are doing to many things all at once to piss off WAY to many of their loyal customers. Today Apple begins a death spiral that will last maybe 6 or 7 years before they realize WTF they are doing and turn around once again. They will not die, but their position at the top of many markets will fade from this day. Mark my words. Apple, STOP IT!

But, on the other hand, Sirius wants you to now fork over more $ in longer subscription fees if you want streaming access at all so, I'm not so bummed out now. Forget Apple, Sirius is in DEEP, DEEP doo doo.
