Fusion io ioDrive Duo SSDs

Fusion-io has unveiled the ioDrive Duo, a series of PCI Express, server-based solid state drives (SSDs) that feature sustained throughput up to an astounding 1.5 gigabytes per second. The components also offer storage capacities up to 1.28TB, doubling the slot capacity of the company's previous ioDrive storage products.

The performance is scaled linearly, with support for up to six gigabytes per-second when reading data and up to 500,000 read Input/Output Operations per Second (IOPS) when using four ioDrive Duos. Each drive is capable of 186,000 read IOPS and 167,000 write IOPS with a latency under 50 µsec.

The company integrates multi-bit error detection and correction to ensure data integrity, along with Flashback protection for on-board self-healing. Users can also apply RAID-1 mirroring between two modules on the same drive.

The ioDrive Duo is set to ship sometime in April with 160GB, 320GB and 640GB capacities, while the 1.28TB variant will arrive sometime in the second half of the year. Pricing information is available from the company's sales team. [via HotHardware]

Almost every board still has a PCIe slot or two, and nobody EVER uses them. If you can get faster transfer rates over SATA 3gbps and your GPU allows (size and heat), then why not?
