Cupcake out in April in UK
T-Mobile in the UK said it will launch the Cupcake update for the Google-powered phone, the T-Mobile G1, in April, according to a Wednesday report. The Cupcake release may coincide with that of Vodafone's HTC Magic, the successor to the G1, though T-Mobile UK is keeping mum about this possibility. "We can't say whether this will be connected with the launch of the HTC Magic as we aren't aware of what alterations if any they are making to the operating system," a T-Mobile rep says.
As previously stated, the update will include a virtual keyboard in addition to the hardware QWERTY keyboard and a number of other features to improve its performance. This includes video and voice recording, the ability to save MMS attachments and stereo Bluetooth.
T-Mobile USA has previously told Electronista that Cupcake is coming to its version of the G1 in the near future, but hasn't ever mentioned a timetable.
