iRiver outs Dicple D31 PMP

Korea's iRiver has launched its latest portable media player, the D31. Part of its Dicple Series, the device sports a 4.3-inch LCD touchscreen with 480x272 resolution and is available in two models. The first has a DMB tuner for picking up digital video signals along with 4GB of built-in memory, while an Edu version trades the tuner for another 4GB of memory, for a total of 8GB. A microSD memory card slot lets user expand storage, while a USB 2.0 connection lets them sync it with their home PCs.

Either gets an FM radio tuner and recorder, as well as handwriting recognition software for the touchscreen. A Personal Information Manager (PIM) function that includes a calendar and scheduler. Supported audio files include MP3, WMA, ASF and OGG, while AVI and WMV videos can be watched. JPEG, GIF, BMP and PNG images can be viewed as well, and TXT, DOC, XLS, PPT, HWP, CSD and PDF documents are likewise supported.

The 1,350mAh lithium-ion battery life in either device is rated at 35 hours of audio playback and 5 hours of video.

There is no word on pricing information, and the device is so far restrained for sale to its home market of Korea. [via PortableAlliance]

    UGLY!

That thing is hideous. I sometimes think Apple puts too much emphasis on products looking good, but this is WAY too far in the opposite direction.

I don't care what it does, I don't want one.
