Amadana intros SAL VGA cam

Not unlike the fairly popular Flip Video that spawned the category and the near identical Creative Vado that followed it, Amadana on Monday announced the introduction of its SAL pocket video camcorder. The SAL uses a 3-megapixel CMOS sensor to capture 640x480 resolution videos in the MPEG-4 format, with a 320x240 LCD display acting as the viewfinder and playback display. Storage space is fixed at 2GB, or 2 hours of video that also matches the claimed battery life.

Uploading videos to a Windows Vista or XP PC is done via an integrated USB connection, which also charges the built-in battery over two hours. The only other connection includes a headphone jack, and there is a single mono speaker. Two SALs can be connected together using their USB ports to provide the ability to interact with video, though exactly what that means is not clear.

The SAL will be available in Japan in black, white, brown, green and pink on May 22nd, priced at the equivalent of $203. There is no indication of availability in markets outside of Japan. [via Impress]
