Peek Pronto teaser

Peek briefly posted a teaser for Pronto on its Peek for Business site, although the page was quickly removed. Additional details were not provided, but rumors suggest the Pronto could represent an upcoming e-mail device geared for business users. "We’re introducing Peek Pronto – It includes some additional features and services that will make Peek mobile email even better," read the Google search description, although the same information could not be found on the business site or the cached page.

Beta testers on the company's message board suggest Pronto could represent an upcoming software update instead of a new device. The software, scheduled for release sometime in April, allegedly offers push e-mail and other improvements. [via Engadget]

Update: Peek has responded to the speculation with an additional detail posted on its Geeky Peek blog, claiming Pronto is "much, much faster in every way possible." The statement proceeded to point out that the time to open a menu on the software version 1.08 is .09 seconds, while the time to open a menu on Pronto is .04 seconds, which adds evidence to claims that the mystery announcement will be an updated operating system, version 1.09.

    Not software update!

It's a new device, if you read the whole comment post in Engadget.

    ".... It's a COMPLETELY new device model!....."
