B&O 103-inch plasma HDTV

Bang & Olufsen has announced on Thursday it will release its giant 103-inch plasma HDTV this summer. The set is called the BeoVision 4-103 and together with its motorized stand, weighs in at 1,100lbs. The stand will motor up to reveal a center channel speaker that is also motorized and comes out to sit flush with the screen. Users can also adjust the angle and rotate the display to face them squarely via the remote control. The plasma panel comes from a same-size Panasonic display.

The set includes B&O's BeoSystem 3 stage manager and VisionClear technology that will automatically adjust color and brightness levels every 120 hours of operation.

The TV can be pre-ordered now and will ship in July in Europe, with pricing set at $137,000. The TV does, however, ship with the company's $5,377 BeoSound 5 home theater audio system and remote touchscreen remote control. [via FlatPanelsHD]

And people say Apple costs too much!

I don't mean to be a play-hater but WTF! $140,000 for a TV -- people with that much money and priorities so far out of whack is criminal. How many meals for starving children could that buy? Medical care?

    Simply amazed.

B&O is a terrific brand, but premium all the way. This is for the wealthy. It genuflects, has a trademark B&O sound package and is huge at 103 inches. Home cinema central for the well-heeled, status conscious. Apple is not in this league. Even if you uber-trick-out a Mac Pro, you'd be hard pressed to top 30,000 dollars.

Wouldn't mind one, if I didn't have to pay for it.
