BFG Phobos gets dual GTX 275s, SSD option

BFGTech at mid-day updated its Phobos gaming PC to give it better performance at the base level and to improve its storage options. The stock Performance Edition system now comes with dual GeForce GTX 275 cards instead of a single GeForce GTX 295. BFG argues that the clock speeds of the single-chip discrete cards when combined in SLI are faster than the dual-chip 295 without hurting the price.

The mid-tower is additionally no longer limited to rotating hard drives and has the option of any of three Intel solid-state drives, using either the X25-M 80GB or 160GB drives to get extra capacity and reduce price or else the X25-E 64GB for faster performance.

A base $3,000 Phobos Performance model continues to come with the PC's signature 8-inch touchscreen for PC functions and free installation as well as its original specs, which center on a 2.66GHz Core i7 chip and dual 640GB hard drives. It should be available today alongside the existing Advanced ($5,000) and Elite ($8,000) models.
