Sanyo outs PLC-WXE45
Sanyo announced on Tuesday that it has added the PLC-WXE45 LCD projector to its broad lineup, intending it for classroom use as it has both a short throw range and networking capabilities. The WXE45 can create an 80-inch image from a distance of 34 inches away at a native 1280x800 resolution and in a 16:10 aspect ratio. A network interface lets the PLC-WXE45 integrate with wired networks, letting users or IT administrators oversee its functionality remotely. The unit can be set up to send out e-mail that reports its operating status.
The contrast ratio is rated at 500:1, while brightness is set at 2,000 lumens. A color correction function accounts for the display medium, resulting in proper images whether they are thrown up onto a blackboard, whiteboard or anything in-between. The WXE45 has an instant-on and instant-off feature, unlike older designs where bulbs had to cool before a projector could be turned off.
There is no integrated speaker, but closed captioning support lets viewers read speech of supported content. Connections include a VGA port, S-video connection and composite cable.
For security, there is a PIN code interlock and a feature that prevents the projector's operation without its remote. An audible alarm will also go off when a large vibration is detected.
The PLC-WXE45 is available now and has a suggested retail cost of $1,795.
