Acer 11.6-inch Aspire One

Acer on Wednesday announced the newest addition to its Aspire One netbook range with an 11.6-inch version. Apart from the new size, what differentiates the new model from existing ones is its soft-touch keyboard, 1-inch thickness and multi-gesture touchpad. The latter lets users leaf through pages by swiping their finger and zoom into pages by pinching their fingers while in contact with the touchpad.

The six-cell battery is also a highlight and is said to last 8 hours, while weight is said to be at just over 2.2lbs.

Other specs are par for the netbook course, including a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor and 160GB hard drive with Windows XP. The LED-backlit display has a 1366x768 resolution and a webcam built into its frame. There is also built-in 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G data network access. The speakers feature Dolby Pro Logic sound processing.

Acer says the Aspire One 11.6 will be available in white, dark blue, red and black, though exactly when has not been disclosed. Pricing is also unknown at this time.
