US Ceullular handsets
Wireless provider US Cellular is soon due to get a number of handsets added to its range, including the HTC Touch Pro and BlackBerry 8230 Pearl Flip smartphones as well a number of more mainstream models. The Touch Pro, which is currently available at Sprint and Verizon, will be released on Friday, April 17th, according to a Wednesday PhoneArena report. It features a 2.8-inch touchscreen, 3.2-megapixel camera and sliding QWERTY keyboard, as well as Windows Mobile 6.1.
The Pearl Flip, with its 2.6-inch main display, 2-megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth and GPS sensor will become available at US Cellular sometime in the middle of June. Sharing that launch date is LG's UX840, which has a 3-inch touchscreen but adds a QWERTY keyboard. Other main features of this phone include a 3-megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth and a full HTML browser.
A pair of Samsung phones are also due this summer, with the Gloss U440 flip phone arriving early in May and the entry-level R311 clamshell later that same month. The former is a rebadged version of the Samsung Cleo available on Canadian provider Solo Mobile and has a unique flip-phone form factor that includes a QWERTY keyboard. Otherwise, the Gloss has a 1.3-megapixel camera and stereo Bluetooth. The R311 handset gets a VGA camera, Bluetooth and a one-touch speakerphone.
US Cellular's subsidized pricing for these devices has not been revealed.
