T-Mobile Event April 21st
T-Mobile at mid-day announced a special event for April 21st in New York City. The company provides no other details and, unlike previous invitations, doesn't hint as to the general direction of the gathering. The last event held by the company in this manner was in September of last year, when the company introduced the G1 as the world's first Android phone.
Most expect the event to center on the launch of an Americanized version of the HTC Magic, the second-ever publicly detailed phone running Google's Android platform. It will also be the first to no longer require a hardware keyboard and is largely considered the most direct Android equivalent to the iPhone. A version with T-Mobile branding has shown at the FCC and is expected to be an upgrade with a 5-megapixel camera and native 3G for T-Mobile USA's airwaves. Most expect it to be rebranded as the G2.
Electronista has previously heard from HTC sources that the T-Mobile version of the Magic is due "soon."
An extra candidate for the event is the Sidekick LX 2009 but is considered less likely given the low-key introduction of the 2008 model.
