Toshiba intros more stylized Dynabook UX netbook

Toshiba Dynabook UX


NB100 8.9-inch netbook with the 10.1-inch Dynabook UX. Its LED backlit's screen size is bumped up to 10.1 inches, though the native resolution remains the same at 1024x600; the key pitch is now 19mm and comes with a "chiclet" design that significantly improves the feel. Besides the much sleeker design, it also moves to the slightly faster 1.66GHZ Atom N280 and its improved system bus.

Otherwise, the specs are common to other netbooks and include 1GB of RAM, and 160GB hard disk drive preloaded with Windows XP Home Edition. Users can now charge accessories through the USB port even when the netbook is powered off. There are three USB ports, Wi-Fi and SDHC and MMC card slot along with a 3-megapixel camera. An English-to-Japanese and four Korean dictionaries are integrated into the netbook as well.

Though they haven't been listed, Toshiba will offer about 10 options for the Dynabook UX, with most of them comprised of batteries. The standard battery life is rated at 4 hours, and the entire package thus equipped tips the scales at 2.93lbs.

When it is launched in Japan on April 24th, the Dynabook UX with prices starting at the equivalent of $607. Color choices include snow white and brown satin. No announcement of a North American release date has been made, though the NB100 has already been on sale in the region. [via Impress]
