NetGear MoCa adapter kit

NetGear on Tuesday announced the release of its MoCA Coax-Ethernet Adapter Kit (MCAB1001), made to speed up home networking and streaming of high-definition videos and online gaming. NetGear claims the kit allows speeds as fast as 270Mbps and uses a home's coaxial cable to bridge two devices and connect them to a home network. It is compatible with major cable TV services and homes wired for cable, and lets devices with Ethernet connections, including HDTVs, Blu-ray players, DVRs and gaming consoles join the home network.

The kit is Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA) 1.1 certified, meaning it is compatible with cable and DSL networks, allows interference-free television viewing over existing cable services, and supports other MoCA 1.0 and 1.1 products, though it is not compatible with satellite TV setups. Data encryption ensures privacy and security. The kit will also allow performing file transfers to networked storage devices like NetGear's own line of ReadyNAS storage solutions. Advanced Quality of Service (QoS) supports uninterrupted HD video, gaming and high-speed networking.

The (MCAB1001 kit includes two MoCA Coax-Ethernet Adapters and is now available for purchase, priced at $229.
