Toshiba dates NB200 for UK
On Wednesday, Toshiba announced it has added the Mini NB200 netbook to its UK lineup, which shares specs and is largely a rebadged version of the just-announced Dynabook UX headed for Western markets. Both use the same 10.1-inch widescreen LED-backlit display with 1024x600 resolution and near full-sized keyboard. The same options will be offered, with a standard 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor or the more powerful 1.66GHz N280 Atom sitting on the same 945GSE mainboard.
The same 160GB hard drive will contain Windows XP Home in basic models, and the NB200 has integrated Wi-Fi and mobile broadband radios. Content on the hard drive is protected by a free fall sensor. There is an extra large touchpad, integrated 0.3-megapixel webcam and Bluetooth. Three USB 2.0 ports are integrated, with one of them capable of charging a device even when the netbook is powered off.
Weights will begin at just over 2.4lbs for the model equipped with the base 3-cell battery. This will give it up to 4 hours of life, while the optional 9-cell battery will give it up to 9 hours of operation.
The NB200 will be offered in brown, black, white and pink when it launches in the UK in May, with prices starting at the equivalent of $465.
