VholdR intros HD camcorder

Seattle-based VholdR recently introduced the first wearable HD camcorder in the industry with the ContourHD. Aimed at individuals who are into extreme sports or other sports activities where users want to record their point of view but do not have a free hand to hold a camera, the water-resistant ContourHD can be attached to goggles or a helmet and shoot 720p HD video at 30 frames per second or standard-definition video at 60fps.

Up to 8 hours of HD video can be recorded on a 16GB microSD card, while power comes from removable lithium-ion batteries. There is one button to start recordings, and a pair of lasers help user square the image through the camera's 192 degrees of rotation. A microphone is built in as well.

The aluminum body and internal components are made to withstand shock, vibration and impact, with the whole package weighing 4 ounces. The ContourHD ships with Easy Edit software that supports both Mac OS X and Windows PCs and makes uploading and editing videos easier.

The ContourHD will be available in May, priced at $300. [via GearLog]
