Alias 2 coming May 11th
Adding to earlier reports of the Samsung U750, or the Alias 2, the unofficial ship date for the handset at wireless provider Verizon is now set at May 11th. The flip phone is special as the first with a variable e-ink QWERTY keyboard. Its buttons change assignments depending on whether the dual-hinged 2.6-inch, 320x240 pixel display is opened horizontally or vertically but don't consume extra power until the change.
When the display is opened like a conventional flip phone for phone conversations, for example, users get a conventional keypad, but when the phone is used for texting in a horizontal orientation, QWERTY keys appear on the pad. Otherwise, the Alias 2 has a 2-megapixel camera, shortcut keys for turning on Bluetooth or accessing the text messaging interface, voicemail, camera, games or alarm settings.
Pricing at Verizon is still unconfirmed for the handset, but is expected to range from $100 to $130 after rebates and with a two-year contract. [via Phone Arena]
