IdeaPad Y550s now shipping
Lenovo has started shipping its latest 15.6-inch notebook, the IdeaPad Y550, and offers six models of the portable PC, with prices ranging from $669 to $1,199. All include a 1366x768 widescreen display and an integrated dual-layer DVD burner. The base model has a 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 2GB of RAM, along with a 250GB hard drive preloaded with Windows Vista Home Premium.
An integrated Intel X4500 graphics processor does duty in the four bottom models, while NVIDIA's GeForce G105M chipset with a dedicated 512MB of video memory handles graphics in the top two models. Wi-Fi is standard equipment on all, though Bluetooth V2.1 with EDR can only be had on the top two models.
Lenovo's Desktop Navigator shortcut bar performs most basic multimedia controls on all Y550 variants, and a six-cell battery powers them all. The range-topper uses a 2.53GHz Core 2 Duo, 4GB of RAM and a 500GB hard drive.
