MSI intros two notebooks

PC builder MSI on Monday announced the upcoming release of a pair of gaming-oriented notebook PCs, the 15.4-inch GX623 and GX633. The GX623 uses an Intel Core 2 Duo processor and ATI's Radeon HD 4670 3D graphics processor with 512MB of video RAM, while the GX633 runs on AMD's Turion X2 dual-core CPU paired with NVIDIA's GeForce GT 130M with its own 512MB of video RAM. Either uses MSI's power management feature that switches between five modes suitable for different tasks by pressing a button.

MSI also equipped the pair with its one-button overclocking feature, which speeds up the processing speeds of the notebooks when they are plugged into a power outlet. Though they can support up to 4GB of RAM, MSI did not specify what amount the basic versions ship with. The LCDs on the GX632 and GX633 each sport 16:10 aspect ratios and 1440x900 resolutions.

So gamers can quickly and easily find them, MSI colored the W, A, S and D keys on the keyboard.

Other common features of the new notebooks include a built-in 2-megapixel webcam, Wi-Fi, optional Bluetooth, a three-in-one memory card reader and a DVD writer. A Blu-ray disc drive is an option, as is a higher-capacity 9-cell battery. Connections include three USB ports, HDMI and VGA outputs and an Ethernet jack. Users can pick from 160GB, 250GB, 320GB and 500GB SATA hard drives, preloaded with the sole operating system offering: Windows Vista Home Premium. Either of the standard systems weighs nearly 6lbs.

MSI did not announce pricing or release dates for the two notebooks.
