News Corp. rumored to offer its own e-ink reader

News Corp. reader coming?
The all-encompassing News Corp. media company founded by Rupert Murdoch is said to be "looking at hardware" to bring the latest news and entertainment content from its many assets to users, according to a Wednesday report that is citing knowledgeable sources. Such a device would deliver content in a "user-friendly way," and though no specifics have been given to the Daily Beast about the device, Murdoch himself commented on the possibility of such a gadget last month.
"We’re investing in a new device that has a bigger screen, four-color, and you can get everything there," Murdoch said at The Cable Show in April.
Paid content would come from News Corp's own assets, including the Wall Street Journal, Sunday Times, the Sun in London and many others. But the conglomerate is also reported to be in talks with publishers and other content providers outside of News Corp. In charge of these negotiations is the recently appointed chairman and CEO of News Corp's Digital Media Group and chief digital officer Jonathan Miller, who reports directly to Murdoch.
No other details as to the device itself, which would possibly compete with Amazon's Kindle and Sony's Reader, have been revealed.
