T-Mobile G1 V2 to mirror, undercut iPhone?

T-Mobile G1 V2 Leak
The previously hinted-at T-Mobile G1 V2 may have a design much more consciously inspired by the iPhone, a follow-up leak indicates. While the first G1 has sometimes been criticized for its thick and rectangular design, the V2 found by BGR would have a much thinner, sleeker design with chrome accents and a black front not unlike its Apple rival. It would also have dedicated ringer and volume switches.
The same source also has the Android-based V2 shipping at a lower price than the original did, with Walmart putting it at a $148 price on contract; as the retailer normally only prices phones slightly below official prices, the detail hints at a $150 cost through T-Mobile itself versus $180 for the first edition and Apple's typical $200 price.
T-Mobile is unofficially slated to ship the new phone in October; the non-keyboard G2, also known as the HTC Magic, is believed due in the summer.

Looks pretty good. Personally not too fond of keyboards where there's no gap between keys, as I often fat-finger them, but it's nice to have the option. It would be really nice if HTC scaled back their lockdown a bit and let the user access the filesystem without having to hack it this time around.
