Montevina notebook

Motherboard and computer manufacturer Gigabyte Technology has introduced an Intel-designed notebook that runs on the Montevina platform, according to DigiTimes. The first device in the series, codenamed Peggy's Cove, offers a 13.3-inch display, along with 3G, Wi-Fi and WiMAX connectivity. The notebooks are part of Intel's Blanca program which provides design support for second-tier OEMs that build the systems for a variety of brand vendors.

Further details have yet to be announced, although Intel is set to update its Montevina Core 2 mobile processors sometime this spring. A leaked roadmap showed a 3.06GHz Core 2 Duo, along with a power-draining Core 2 Extreme. A low-power 2.66GHz Core 2 Duo offers a faster alternative to the current 2.53GHz model. A separate rumor suggests a Core 2 Quad is also be on the way.

Pricing and availability for the Peggy's Cove remains unknown.
