Reworked PS3 at E3 Rumor

Sony's all but expected PSP Go! launch at next month's E3 may also be accompanied by a significant change to the PS3 as well. A slip through PlayStation Lifestyle claims that a game console besides the PSP will get a significant "redesign," implying a major change. Whether this is the case and involves a slimmer model similar to the second-run PS2 or just different colors wasn't discussed.

While the rumor by itself doesn't point to a wide range of evidence, it appears just as a white Dual Shock 3 controller has shown up clearly marked for use in North America and which hints that Sony will likely have at least a standard, white PS3 on sale in the near future. Talk of a slim PS3 has been sparked mostly by Sony's known plans for a 45 nanometer (nm) Cell processor and similar NVIDIA graphics chip that would allow for a much slimmer PS3 without concerns over heat.
