ASUS Eee Keyboard to ship

ASUS is set to launch its keyboard PC, the Eee Keyboard, sometime by the end of June, according to Engadget. The device offers an embedded PC driven by an Atom N270 processor, with an 800 by 480 pixel touchscreen display that doubles as a trackpad. The all-in-one runs on Windows XP and is said to include a 32GB SSD, stereo speakers, a microphone and 802.11n or Bluetooth connectivity. An HDMI output can be used to connect an external display.

When the device was previewed at CES in January, the company referenced a wireless variant that connects via ultra-wideband HDMI. Several UWB monitor prototypes were on hand at CeBIT.

More details will be available at the upcoming Computex conference in Taipei. The wired Eee Keyboard is expected to carry a $400 price tag, while the wireless option could add another $200.

    Ha ha ha! Garbage

Now this is the height of stupidity. If you have your computer on with your $199 24" monitor, what benefit does that tiny, low resolution, $400 screen on your keyboard provide?

It doesn't travel well. It has no phone. Are we deforesting the rainforest for this piece of junk? I hope that's real aluminum on that keyboard. At least part of it is easily recycled in to something more useful: beer cans.
