Windows 7 box images real?

CentrumXP has released supposed leaked images of the Windows 7 retail boxes, according to ars technica. The boxes appear to be a combination of XP and Vista boxes, an indication of Microsoft's aim to make Windows 7 a culmination of the best parts of its predecessors.

There has been speculation about the validity of the leaked images. Some people believe the packaging images are too "busy" -- having too much text on the box to have been designed by Microsoft. Other speculators believe the Windows 7 logo is too exact to have been faked.

Photographs from the Windows 7 RC event in China last week indicate the box images could be based on Windows 7 logos, but altered slightly. ars technica speculates that if theses images are impostors, the person responsible has invested a large amount of research to ensure the Windows 7 art matches genuine promotional materials previously presented by Microsoft.

Microsoft has yet to comment about the validity of the images. The company plans to release Windows 7 before 2010.

Just another example of MS copying apple. Now the press is speculating about product images and whether they're real.

that number seven graphic is getting dangerously close to the infamous "X" apple has invented on the cover of OSX software boxes!

probably fakes

I agree that these are probably fake... The Windows logo is 4 colors. I don't believe this has changed, so it's unlikely Microsoft would use a monotone logo. That's the first clue.

They are sample images for prospective boxes, which may or may not get approved/accepted (which would also give reason for the top and bottom set, two different ideas).

Another choice: The bottom images are for the interior cover/box, or fold-out, or the back.

rumors!

One other thing. Notice the bottom pix seem to say Windows 2010 in the screen! And the top pix only shows three boxes! Does this mean no windows home basic!

And what do you think Get More Now is supposed to mean? Because, seriously, it really doesn't mean anything. Although, if you read the last letters of the phrase backwards, it says "WET". Maybe MS is trying to tell us Windows 7 is all wet.

Oh, and where's the images of these boxes as they would appear in the large plastic cases like you would see them on display at Staples, because we all know people will steal Windows from a store in no time flat (but would never think of violating copyright by downloading the software through p2p).
